In the earliest days of Scottish Votepods, we took a determined stand; we were going to do things differently. One of the key design principles was 'no driving to meetings for the sake of holding meetings'. With key members of the team in Glasgow, Dundee and World Headquarters in Perth, this was a challenge. However, we started to use VOIP conference calls with Skype for regular update meetings. Coupled with innovative use of shared documents online, we were able to spend time painting our cars, as this photo attests.
The number depicted is the meeting miles we have saved so far, just by making one small change. If the miles are complicated as you try and relate them to carbon emissions or whatever. Think about it another way. For one person to drive that distance at a steady uninterrupted 60 mph would take them 70 hours; nearly two working weeks. Simple change; big change.
